Why invest in t-shirt printing?
In the 21st century, what we see, do and wear is all within our own power. We make fashion choices that reflect who we are and how comfortable we want to be. And if you didn’t notice already, Australia is a generally warm country – t-shirts don’t go astray here. We live in the perfect climate for t-shirts. So why not stand out amongst the crowd? You probably have a quote you love, a picture you adore or even something you’ve designed yourself. Is it a super-nerdy Star Trek reference? Or is it a photo of your cat? It doesn’t matter! Get it printed on a t-shirt and express yourself.

Screen printing: then and now
Screen printing is the process of using a stencil to apply ink onto a “substrate”: t-shirts, posters, stickers, vinyl, wood, or other materials. This process of printing has changed dramatically over the last few hundred years with the development of new technologies, and lucky for us, it is now easier than ever to print your very own t-shirt design.
Screen printing can be dated to as far back as the Song dynasty period of 1000 years ago. Japan also caught on to the idea of using silk as a mesh for printing on, but they had been using wood block and stamp printing since the year 200! Andy Warhol used the screen printing to make his most famous piece: images of Marilyn Monroe. This print was hugely influential across all art movements in the 20th century and continues to be so and popularised the screen printing process across the Western world.
We offer screen printing services for those wanting to print the design of their dreams the traditional way: screen printing provides brighter colours, vibrant textures and is a great choice if you’re printing many t-shirts of the same design. It’s the old-school way, but screen printing is still a great and cost-effective way to produce high-quality t-shirts.
Direct-to-Garment (DTG) printing is essentially just that…it prints images directly onto a t-shirt through a purpose-built garment printer. Compared to screen printing, DTG printing allows you to print images with higher detail, and you can use more colours at a time than if you were screen printing. The Custom T-Shirt Shop uses a Brother DTG printer: it’s our pride and joy. Come in and get to know our practices, and you’ll see the difference. Read why we use the Brother GT381 DTG Printer.
We also have a range of workshops available for those wishing to learn the screen printing process! Contact The Custom T-Shirt Shop to find out more. Our t-shirt shop is the best t-shirt printing business in Brisbane, but we ship our custom printed t-shirts Australia-wide.
